For Miu Miu, I created the Merrylane campaign. It all began in March 2017 with drawing, then building a large machine entirely out of paper. Once it was complete, I brought it to Paris. We filmed everything in a studio with the team from Stink Studios, Coty, and Matthieu Lequimener, the director of photography.
Filming is always one of my favourite moments. I love that stage when everyone is bustling in the shadows, like behind the scenes of a theatre. Everyone is focused on crafting a fleeting illusion — just one minute of magic.
This film was made entirely without digital effects, meaning lighting was essential. Every action was mechanical: done with hidden trapdoors, strings, glitter, and many well-coordinated hands. It was choreography, craftsmanship, and DIY artistry.
The people I worked with were incredibly kind and talented, so I had a lot of fun. Later came the colour grading stage with Firm Studio, which I enjoyed immensely — especially in such a delicate white setting where subtle hues mattered a lot.
I also composed the music for the different video versions. Finally, we designed a website that allowed visitors to create their own personalised video greeting card and customise it with friends.
