What is Paper Dublin?

Paper Dublin is an ongoing visual project exploring the architectures, shadows, and atmospheres of Dublin through handmade paper works.

It began as a way of looking at the city through fragments: doors, facades, churches, silhouettes, and urban details that hold more than they first reveal. These elements become the starting points for a body of work suspended between observation and imagination.

Rather than documenting the city literally, Paper Dublin translates it into poetic forms. Each work starts from something real, but shifts toward atmosphere, memory, and imagination

Why Dublin?

Paper Dublin emerged after Lorenzo Papace moved to Ireland.

Dublin first appeared through details rather than monuments: a door, a shadow, a façade, the rhythm of a street, the quiet tension of certain buildings. The project grew from this experience of looking closely, and from the desire to transform these urban fragments into a coherent visual world.

In that sense, Paper Dublin is not only about the city itself. It is also about what happens when a city is observed patiently enough to become language.

A way of looking at the city

Paper Dublin is not about architectural accuracy alone, nor about producing miniature replicas of Dublin.

It is a way of reading the city through its edges, its thresholds, and its small tensions. Paper becomes a way of holding together structure, light, fragility, and imagination.

The project moves between precision and transformation. It stays close to the visible city, while allowing space for shadow and strangeness. What matters is not only what Dublin looks like, but what it suggests, hides, and carries.

Through series, studies, and individual works, Paper Dublin develops a growing visual language shaped by repetition and variation.

About the artist

Paper Dublin is a project by Lorenzo Papace, a French artist based in Ireland.

His broader practice extends across paper, music, writing, and scenographic forms, but Paper Dublin focuses specifically on the architectures and atmospheres of Dublin.
