In the It’s Just a Façade series, part of the Paper Dublin project, I explore the tension between appearance and what lies behind it.

The Georgian façades of Dublin — symbols of order and rationality — once showcased the respectability of a social class while concealing, behind their walls, the hierarchy, labour, and hardship of urban life.

These paper artworks stage this contrast: the ordered, luminous surface versus the “hidden abode” of chaos, shadows, and ghosts.
They reveal what the city tries to hide — the life behind the display, the traces of a world out of balance.

Each piece is hand-cut. Thanks to its built-in lighting, you can bring the artwork to life and play with its shadows.
